Probiotics have long been known to aid in common digestive complaints including lactose intolerance and diarrhea. They also help to relieve diarrhea, constipation, bloating, and cramping caused by IBS, Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. In recent years other benefits of probiotics have included boosting the immune system and overall health, reducing yeast infections, improving calcium and nutrient absorption, and providing relief from psoriasis, arthritis, and even asthma.

Despite these wonderful health benefits, one thing has remained a constant problem: delivering the probiotic organisms to the lower digestive tract alive and in tact. If a probiotic supplement does not survive on the shelf for very long (and/or must be refrigerated to maintain potency), it is difficult to say how many viable organisms are present in the supplement when you actually take it. Also, if the probiotics do not survive the passage through the acidic environment of your stomach, they will not reach the lower digestive tract where they exert their health benefits. Our research team of chemists and pharmacists at GetRight™ Probiotics knew that this was critical to the success of our product so we searched diligently to find the right technology to guarantee that our probiotics survive their journey from the manufacturer to you in addition to the journey through your stomach to the lower digestive tract.

The patented BIO-tract® technology does just that. Nutraceutix, Inc. (Redmond, WA) is the pioneer in the technological advancement of delivering active organisms to the lower digestive tract. Their development of the BIO-tract® technology has been integral to the creation of GetRight™ Probiotics. This technology allows GetRight™ Probiotics to be delivered alive and in tact directly to the lower digestive tract where they exert their beneficial effects.

No matter how many CFU’s (colony forming units) a product promises, unless they are delivered alive and intact and in sufficient quantities, they may only provide marginal health benefits or no benefits at all. GetRight™ Probiotics is proud to utilize BIO-tract® technology, and our researchers are confident that it is the best probiotics supplement on the market.

Caplet Composition:
This unique combination of probiotic bacteria contains 2 or 4 Billion CFU (colony forming units = viable organisms) as follows:
40 % Lactobacillus acidophilus
40 % Bifidobacterium bifidum
10 % Lactobacillus helveticus
10 % Streptococcus thermophilus
The caplets are manufactured by Nutraceutix, Inc, (Redmond, WA, www.nutraceutix.com) employing their patented BIO-tract® technology, which is the most advanced dosage form on the market to deliver probiotic organisms to the lower gastrointestinal tract where they are needed to exert their health benefits. This technology extends the shelf life, and allows for storage at controlled room temperature. Perhaps most important, it allows the probiotics to survive the harsh gastric acid environment of the stomach and duodenum, making it an ideal supplement compared to yogurt products.

Purpose:
The purpose of this probiotic product is to alleviate gastrointestinal discomfort caused by an abnormal gut flora (the billions of bacteria found in the intestines and bowel that help regulate many processes in the body, most notably digestion) by delivering high numbers of organisms to the lower gastrointestinal tract. It is targeted to help with conditions such as (but not limited to):
Lactose Intolerance
Diarrhea (antibiotic-induced and traveler’s)
Constipation
Irritable Bowel Syndrome
Irritable Bowel Disease
Ulcerative Colitis
Pouchitis

Journal Articles Supporting Health Benefits:
There are thousands of research articles supporting the health benefits of probiotics. Below are a few references that pertain to the actual types of organisms in GetRight™ Probiotics.
Nutr Res 2006; 26 (9): 454-459. “Daily Ingestion of a Nutritional Probiotic Supplement Enhances Innate Immune Function in Healthy Adults”

This article shows an increase in key immune function parameters with daily use of a probiotic supplement manufactured by Nutraceutix, Inc. employing the patented BIO-tract ® technology. This supports the claim that this dosage form delivers the organisms to where they are needed to confer their health benefits. Available online at www.sciencedirect.com.

Nutr Res 1995; 15: 1287-1295. “Lactase Activity of Bifidobacterium bifidum”
This article investigates the lactase activity of this probiotic organism. Lactase is the enzyme that breaks down lactose, the main sugar in many dairy products. Many probiotics possess high lactase activity helping those with lactose intolerance digest such foods. Available online at www.sciencedirect.com.

N Engl J Med 1995; 333 (20): 1360-1361. “Lactobacilli to Prevent Traveler’s Diarrhea?”
This article reports the efficacy of using probiotics to help prevent this common disruption in travelers. The article is available online at www.content.nejm.org.

Gut 1994; 35: 658-664. “Pouchitis: result of microbial imbalance?”
This article explores the concept that a healthy gut flora can prevent certain inflammatory diseases such as pouchitis. It is available at www.gut.bmj.com.

J Dairy Sci 1995; 78: 1657-1664. “Effects of Milks Inoculated with Lactobacillus acidophilus or a Yogurt Starter Culture in Lactose-Maldigesting Children”

This article supports the increased metabolism of lactose-containing foods with consumption of Lactobacillus acidophilus. Full text available online at www.jds.fass.org.

This article investigates enzyme activities involved in breaking down several other dietary sugars. Some people with lactose intolerance may lack certain enzymes that break down important sugars other than lactose, and this article supports the gastrointestinal relief subjects feel with probiotic supplementation.
